Alton Parade STOVER formation

Alton Parade VOTERS_0.jpg

Stover supporters participated in the Alton Parade on Saturday Aug. 26. They alternated formations with the letters in Danny Stover's last name. Apparently, this was a big hit with the parade attendees.

All fresh and ready for a long night of surprisingly tough questions.

Silent Auction and Grab Bags Table

That's Madison County Clerk, Mark Von Ida (one my heroes), in the black shirt guarding the table. See description of event...

Oh, What a Night! Trivia for Democracy Benefitting Danny Stover Campaign

I know this is late in coming, but I want to report on a wonderful opportunity I had the night of June 10th. The Downstate Democrats for Change organized Trivia for Democracy with all the bells and whistles to create a really fun night for a great cause, raising money for Danny Stover's campaign. I am so proud to be part of this group. They're some of the nicest, hardworking people you'll ever meet. I'm sure I speak for us all in saying, we really appreciate all the people who participated in the event, along with the IBEW for lending their facility in Collinsville, in order to help support Danny's campaign. I have to give Danny and his wife special props for coming out and helping us(even through the clean up afterwards).

We all recognize how important it is that Danny wins the election in November, so we can send him to DC and work in the best interest of ALL Americans. If you go to his website http://www.stoverforcongress.us/ and read his stance on the issues our nation is struggling with, you'll see he has some real sensible approaches to them.

Help Stop HB4346

Here is another one from the Illinois Choice Action Team. ------------------------------------------
Dear Activists,

Please call members of the House State Government Administration Committee on HB4346 - PHARMACY ACT-DENY EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION, sponsored by Rep. Kurt Granberg, (D-107). This bill may be heard in committee next Wednesday. HB4346 would allow pharmacists to refuse to fill prescriptions for emergency contraception. This bill hurts women-especially women already traumatized by rape. This bill allows a pharmacist to impose their personal religious beliefs on others.

This bill would negate Governor Blagojevich's Executive Order requiring that all prescriptions for contraceptives be filled without delay or lecture.

Illinois Campaign for Responsible Sex Education

[update (leo): you can get the form here...

This action has a very brief window at this point. But, if you go to the homepage of this yahoo group by Feb. 4th, I'm hoping you'll be able to access the form needed without having to join and log in.

After that, I'm going to replace it with the usual links I have in there. After printing out the form, please follow the directions in the following message from the Illinois Choice Action Team. -------------------------------------------------------------------------

ProgressiveTalk.org campaign in Southwestern IL

Hello All!

I had a chance to collect signatures at the St. Louis Pride Fest for our Progressive Talk Radio campaign, which covers the Greater St. Louis listening area. The Stonewall Democrats and Common Sense Mom were kind enough to allow us to share a booth with them. It was very successful, so hopefully this campaign won't take too long. But, at the time, they were talking like they need a whole lot more signatures.

We discussed some ways for us to expand the on-the-ground campaign over here to Illinois. Afterall, we are about half of the audience and are in the same boat with them. They already have downloadable/printable petitions and letters of interest from businesses for circulation. But, they're also talking about offering a flier to help spread the word. Computers aren't everywhere, yet, ya know.
